Sod-Turning Ceremony Nutrimix Animal and Pet Food Plant

Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley turned the sod for the construction of the new Nutrimix Animal and Pet Food Plant today (Tuesday 25th February, 2025).

The state-of-the-art feed mill will be located in Point Lisas. It aims to enhance the production of animal feed for the food industry.  The mill is expected to utilise advanced food production technology.

In delivering the feature address, Prime Minister Rowley underscored the critical importance of sustainable investment in Trinidad and Tobago’s non-energy sector. He highlighted the significant evolution of agriculture, noting that it now demands a clear vision, strategic scale and scope, as well as human capital and financial resources.

Dr Rowley commended the vision and leadership of the late Shaheed Mohammed, founder of the Nutrimix Group of Companies, and congratulated the company on its groundbreaking initiative. He described it as a symbol and blueprint for what Trinidad and Tobago can and should strive to achieve.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Hon Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Hon. Avinash Singh, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Stuart Young SC and the Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Senator the Hon Richie Sookhai also attended the event.
