Statement on Sri Lanka Terror Attack
The Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago stand with the people of Sri Lanka in this time of immense pain and national mourning. It is with a deep sense of sadness and disbelief that we learnt of the Easter Sunday terror incident which killed innocent guests at hotels and persons as they worshipped at churches.
Those who plot and implement such hateful attacks may wish for us to become accustomed to this type of heinous activity. We refuse to allow this to happen and reject their acts as abhorrent and evil. We reject religious extremism from every quarter and on every front.
Faith leads to love and light not to destruction.
We join the international community in offering our support and goodwill in the face of this unspeakable tragedy. It is our prayer that the people of Sri Lanka will emerge stronger and even more united as they heal from this violent attack.
