Prime Minister Rowley Meets CAF Development Bank of Latin America
Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley witnessed the signing of four agreements with the CAF Development Bank of Latin America at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s today (Tuesday 15th November, 2022).
The signed agreements are intended for two loans (drainage and digital transformation), one grant for a technical assistance project on flood prevention, and a new immunities and privileges agreement:
Minister of Finance, the Hon. Colm Imbert and Executive President of CAF, Mr. Sergio Díaz-Granados signed the agreements for:
– A $120 million US loan to support Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the digital economy, and society by delivering more efficient services to citizens and fostering digital inclusion.
– A $40 million US loan to finance drainage works in the Caroni, Caparo, South Oropouche and North Oropouche basins, as well as in Port of Spain.
– An Immunities and Privileges Agreement designed to facilitate the operations of CAF’s Regional Office.
As part of a collaboration with The University of the West Indies, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal for the UWI St. Augustine Campus Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine signed an agreement with CAF for a $10 million US grant.
Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Hon Dr. Amery Browne, CAF’s Regional Manager for the Caribbean, Dr. Stacy Richards Kennedy, Corporate Vice President Strategic Programming, Mr. Christian Asinelli and Country Representative of the Development Bank of Latin America, Mr. Gianpiero Leoncini were also present at today’s signing.
