45th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government Final Day

Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley joined regional leaders today (Wednesday 05th July, 2023) at the Hyatt Regency, Trinidad for the final day of the 45th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government.

During the plenary, updates were received on the situation in Haiti, security and border issues and regional air and sea transport.

Earlier today heads engaged with the President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame.

During his address to regional leaders, President Kagame said, “As smaller countries, we gather strength by working together in our regional organizations, integrating our economies, and sharing infrastructure costs.”

US Secretary of State Mr Antony Blinken and US Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives Congressman Hakeem Jeffries also addressed Caribbean leaders. The US delegation discussed the pressing economic and geopolitical issues in the Western Hemisphere. They also reaffirmed the strong partnership between the United States and our Caribbean neighbours.
