It is indeed a pleasure for me to extend greetings and a warm welcome to you to Trinidad and Tobago and to the Twelfth Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CDMA). Your presence here today, as Ministers and senior military and civilian officials of the countries of the Americas region, is testament to the fraternal bonds which have traditionally existed among our countries and indeed underscores our shared commitment to the peace and prosperity of the Hemisphere.
