Alutech Project Resumes

While Government will not pursue the establishment of a smelter in Trinidad and Tobago it is actively taking steps to create a vibrant downstream aluminium industry.

Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley today (October 03, 2018) delivered the feature address at the official relaunch of the Alutech project at the Tamana, InTech Park.

Alutech will import ingots which will be used to manufacture aluminium wheel rims.

This project isn’t new. It was started several years ago but abandoned when the previous administration assumed office. Eteck will now manage the completion of the facility which will then be leased to Alutech.

It is expected that this venture will play a key role in generating revenue, earning foreign exchange and creating employment.
