Official Hand Over San Fernando Fishing Facility

Prime Minister the Hon. Stuart R. Young, SC toured the newly-completed San Fernando Fishing Facility at Kings Wharf today (Saturday 5th April, 2025).
The facility is part of the ongoing works of the San Fernando Waterfront Redevelopment Project.
This four-phased regeneration project aims to drive the economic and commercial growth of the city of San Fernando and its environs.
Prime Minister Young handed over the keys to the facility to the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Hon. Kazim Hosein.
This state-of-the-art fishing facility features a jetty with 25 finger piers to accommodate 50 vessels, a jib crane, chiller rooms, cold storage, a retail fish vending market, an office administration area, and a dining/cafeteria area.
Prime Minister Young said he was proud of the redevelopment work taking place in San Fernando, emphasising that these are not “vanity projects.”
He also referenced another completed aspect of the Redevelopment Project—the San Fernando Waterfront Reclamation Site. This project involved the reclamation of 3.8 hectares of land at Kings Wharf North. The Prime Minister noted that the contract was carefully negotiated to protect the taxpayers of Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, the Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, Minister of Works and Transport, Senator the Hon. Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Hon. Adrian Leonce, Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture Land and Fisheries, Senator the Hon. Avinash Singh, were also present at today’s tour.
