Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley met with President General of the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union, today

Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley along with other Government Ministers met with President General of the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union, Mr Ancel Roget and members of the union’s executive at the Office of the Prime Minister today.

The discussions focussed on matters related to the restructuring of Petrotrin. The union stated that it is not opposed to the restructuring of the energy company and accepted that the organisation needs to be changed or it will die.

Last week the Petrotrin board submitted its recommendations for the restructuring of the fully-owned State company to the Cabinet. The board will now meet with the union and present its report.

The Government is not considering the sale or closure of Petrotrin as part of the restructuring exercise.
