Prime Minister Rowley Meets with US Lawmakers
Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley joined House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries on Capitol Hill for a meeting with several leading members of Congress in Washington, DC today (Wednesday 31 January, 2024).
The talks identified Trinidad and Tobago’s economic stability and national security as crucial for the peace and prosperity of not just the CARICOM region but the wider Western Hemisphere.
Haiti and Venezuela featured prominently in this morning’s discussions with lawmakers sharing their perspectives on the current situation and the steps required for creating a path forward.
Among those providing wider thought leadership on these pressing matters were Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Ranking Member of the Financial Services Committee and Congressman Gregory Meeks, Ranking Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Earlier today Prime Minister Rowley also met with Congressman Bennie Thompson, Ranking Member on the Committee on Homeland Security.
Present at today’s meeting were the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Hon Dr Amery Browne and Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon Stuart Young.
