Prime Minister Tours Field Hospital
Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley toured the field hospital located at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain today (Monday 17th May, 2021).
A second field hospital is located at the Couva Hospital and Multi Training Facility. Together both hospitals will provide 80 additional beds to supplement the country’s COVID-19 parallel healthcare system.
The hospitals were generously donated by the United States Government. They arrived in Trinidad and Tobago last month following an agreement made with the US Government in 2020.
Each field hospital is fully self-sufficient and insulated; outfitted with sanitary conveniences (sinks, toilets, showers); includes an administrative station and station for nurses/ doctors and has a water distribution system for both potable and non-potable water inclusive of pumps.
It is expected that the field hospital located at the Jean Pierre Complex will be operationalised within the next 48-72 hours.
