Prime Minister Young Meets with Religious Leaders On Education Reform

Prime Minister the Hon. Stuart R. Young, SC has met with several heads and leaders of religious organisations as he began work on one of his Government’s priority areas – the reform of Trinidad and Tobago’s education system.

The meeting was held at Whitehall today (Wednesday 19th March, 2025). Minister of Education, Dr the Hon. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly was also present at today’s meeting.

In January, Prime Minister Young speaking at the Heroes Foundation Graduation Ceremony said, “One of the things I’m planning for our future is how do we change the educational curriculum? How do we intervene now and start to shed ourselves of the colonial curriculum that we have? How do we make it more relevant today?”

At today’s meeting, Prime Minister Young shared his aspirations for the advancement towards a more modern, holistic and inclusive education system in Trinidad and Tobago.

The meeting’s discussions focused on addressing critical challenges within the current education landscape including, staffing of vacancies, the need for more social workers/guidance counsellors and schools’ infrastructure.
