Trinidad and Tobago’s Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) Leadership Discussion 2025

Prime Minister the Hon Stuart R. Young, SC delivered the keynote address at the Trinidad and Tobago’s Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) Leadership Discussion 2025 held at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad today (Wednesday 09th April, 2025).
Speaking under the theme “Economic Outlook: Improving the Competitiveness of Business in the Caribbean,” Prime Minister Young reassured the manufacturing association of the Government’s commitment to developing strong partnerships with the association for the benefit of Trinidad and Tobago.
He emphasised, “Your success is success for Trinidad and Tobago.”
Prime Minister Young also commended the Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, for her leadership, tremendous work, effort, energy, and accomplishments in working with the manufacturing association.
Addressing the energy sector, the Prime Minister acknowledged the hurdles that have emerged, but reaffirmed the Government’s determination to advocate for the nation’s interests. He stated, “Despite what you’re hearing, all of our eggs of Trinidad and Tobago are not in the Dragon basket.”
Highlighting ongoing energy initiatives, Prime Minister Young noted recent milestones, “In the last couple weeks you’ve had the largest producer, BP, FID (final investment decision) projects and also announced significant success in other projects, all of which are the direct result of your Government’s leadership, conversation, reputation and responsible decision making. You have the same thing going on with EOG, the Mento platform will produce gas shortly in a joint venture with BP.”
Remarks were also delivered by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Finance, Senator the Hon Vishnu Dhanpaul and the newly elected President of TTMA, Mr Dale Parson.
